The History

In the summer of 1996, an organizing committee of Harbor Club ladies met at the home of Helen Orler to plan a social club.

 

The committee consisted of Helen Orler, Jean Chestnut, Martha Sisterhen, Pat Frain and Margy DeGeorge. Questionnaires and invitations to join the club were mailed to all Harbor Club members and residents.
Jean organized the Ladies Golf Association while Martha organized the Bridge Club. Pat and Margy, members at large, assisted Helen in other ways.

 

At the initial meeting in September 1996, the members voted to have two rotating hostesses responsible for the location and the menu for the monthly meetings. Under Helen's leadership, this system worked for almost two years.

In 1997, the name Harbor Club Ladies League was adopted and the first directory was printed. As membership increased, it was decided to elect the initial slate of officers.
